Beginning a New Year

2012! Oh my the past year has flown by.  In January I started seriously looking at all my projects and have decided it is time to finish a few of the ones that are staring at me.  First is my tyvek block that is a symbol of renewal.  "Spreading My Wings"  is my first try at an art quilt.  While there is probably way to much to this piece it is my first and there will be many in my future.  I am practicing my free motion quilting.  I am not ready to actually put it on something yet but I am working towards it.

The second item to be finished is the Autumn Fiber Art Quilt.  This was really fun and I am glad it is now finished.  I used a metallic fabric on it from Michael Miller Coin Fairy Frost backed with Ivory Fairy frost.  The art fiber is painted then stitched to the ivory silk.

I can't tell you how much I loved the way it turned out.  I am new at this quilting thing so I still have a lot to learn and with this one I finally learned out to do the mitered corners.  I quilted around each square with a variegated rayon thread on the front and gold on the back.  I wasn't real impressed with how it looked but it is in there and I am leaving it.  I machine quilted the rest with a metallic gold thread and I loved the way it looked.

Two down and 2 to go.  I have a quilt that my sister-in-law and I have done together.  She did the quilting and I am embellishing it.  It has buttons and yarn on it.  I put the eyelash yarn on first and now I have spun some yarn to go on it.  It has been quite a project and I am determined to finish it.  A lot of things in my life have happened since we started this project.  I think once it is finished I will feel like I finally accomplished putting the past behind.  That makes it an important project.

The last but not least is a full size quilt that is my largest, and not so ornate for sure.  I hand quilted it and now it needs to have the binding finished.  The only way to go from here is up. I will picture it for you when I finish it.

I have ordered fabric for a queen size quilt for my bead. It will be done in the Papillion by Moda in the aqua colors. It will be a patterned quilt and could be the last patterned thing I will do.  The designer in me hates to be boxed in.  I also have fabric for a table runner of coffee cups that I have designed that is ready to be cut and put together.  I am also working on a garland for my granddaughter, Roxy.  It is made from felt in pink, white, and chocolate.  I just got started and now I am waiting for more felt to make it here.  This is a fun project! I just got a Big Shot from Sizzix and it is making this an easy job.

Well that is all for personal "stuff".  I have also been working on things that I sell on ebay and on etsy.  I have done quite a few sissor fobs/ornaments.  I have done a pink house ornament.  I have started another flower in metallic purple in the tyvek.  Yes I have stayed very busy this winter.  I have really enjoyed it too.  It is so nice to have my creativity back.  I had lost it for a few years.  It was not a good time for me but I am so happy that it showed back up.

Those are just af few of the things that will end up on ebay at my store 2 Much 2 Store or on my meersbaby store on etsy at Two down and 2 to go. I have a quilt that my sister-in-law and I have done together. She did the quilting and I am embellishing it. It has buttons and yarn on it. I put the eyelash yarn on first and now I have spun some yarn to go on it. It has been quite a project and I am determined to finish it. That makes it an important project.  http://www.etsy.com/shop/meersbaby http://stores.ebay.com/2much2store
