Back to the Love of Fiber

I did a little playing with a Jennifer Jangles fabric I fell in love with.  I found the wonky stripes from a Dr.  Seuss fabric line to go with it.  I put it on graph paper and came up with this block.  Now knowing how many blocks are out there I am sure there is one like this but I can't seem to find it.

I know this was rather juvenile but it worked for me lol.

I think I will make a pillow out of it and perhaps sell it on esty later.

The tulip was drawn then colored with crayons.  Then I ironed out the wax.  I am working on free motion quilting so this was my first attempt on something other than scraps.  It is just okay but not something I would by any means sell.

I have been practicing the free motion quilting and a few days ago while I was doing stippling my machine started to make a noticeable scraping noise so it is in the shop.  So I must get back to other crafts for a bit.  It feels odd not to have my machine because it has become a part of me.  On the other hand I have lots of things to keep me busy in the mean time!

A Few More Pond Pictures

These are pictures of the pond and some butterflies that just landed on the wet part of the rocks.  They were a lovely blue color and really were neat to see.  I know these butterflies won't be around long so getting a picture was really neat.

Here is the four leaf clover.  This is a Murphy household so Murphy's Law is always in effect. The luck of a four leaf clover can only help the situation.

Here is our first lily pad.  Two more will probably go in.  This one has a pretty pink flower with yellow in the middle.  It is a "Colorado" lily.

We have bought 6 red fantail and 4 Comets.  This morning we have 5 red fantail and 1 Comet.  I guess we have a critter getting our fish.  We are going to go buy a net today.  I just hate the thought of my fish being someones dinner!

The Pond

Well we have had quite a spring.  We put in a new driveway.  It was quite a project but at least we had someone who knew what they were doing put it in.  While weather was a factor and scheduling wasn't the easiest we did manage to have it finished.

We also did a flower bed in front.  We removed some bushes and put up a block flower bed.  We have yet to put anything but dirt in it.  We have a lot of landscaping to do.  I doubt it will all get finished this year.  We put up some retaining walls on the drive way.

Last but not least we are working on a pond with a waterfall.  This has been quite a job and we have learned so much.  We have made plenty of mistakes.  It is not complete but we now have water so I am going to put some pictures up even though it isn't finished.  There will be gold fish and some plants in the pond.  And we have some extreme landscaping to do in this area.  Not quite sure how we are going to deal with it as it is now.  We must get very creative!

Only the beginning here.

Leveling our spot was done by an excavator

The hole it's self was done by the excavator
and the shelf is done by hand.

This was a task digging this hole!
It is in red clay and rock.

Now the liner and the coping stones.
Regret for not making the shelf
just a touch bigger set in.

Beginning to look like a pond!

Well the waterfall is taking place.
It had to be changed some and
I believe it will be changed more.
OH YEAH WE HAVE A WATERFALL!!!!!
Now it is time to fix the leaks in the fall.

Small pool at the top

The rock we chose did great!  This was probably the toughest thing to pick out.
It had a ridge on it and the way it was first we began to think it would not work.  However it was turned with the ridge at the top and now we have a lovely water fall.  We must fix all the leaks with expandable foam and finish laying all the rock.  We must then deal with the cliff and landscape.  We are not done by a long shot but it has been hard but rewarding.
