Last But Not Least

Well Christmas is finished!  Timing was good this year.  I have a week to spare.  That is if I have not forgotten something!   Here are the last of the ornaments.  Now it is time to decide what to do next year.  And so it goes!

Well that is it for this year.  Hopefully I will back back in the new year and getting ready for valentines!  I have a new Valentine Tree to set up with tiny little ornaments that are cross stitched.  So I need to get started.  Have a Merry Christmas and a very happy New Years!

Christmas Gifts in Full Gear for the Season! 2011

This month is always a busy one around here.  I usually make a lot of items for Christmas.  This year is no different.  I will add some pictures here of things I have made.
These are treasures for the treasure box I made for my granddaughter's birthday coming up in January.  I miss her like crazy! I have gotten her some dress up clothes for Christmas and I feel this will complete her entire look!

Some great fiber art beads from SweetArtUnlimited on etsy

A fiber art brooch from SweetArtUnlimited on etsy.com

This is the first time I have tried these.  It was a whole bunch of fun!  I still have several more to make. I hope those who receive them for Christmas will love them too!

These are a few earrings I have made for some of my special friends and family.

This one is for my "artist" daughter.  I finished it last night.  The fabric was left over from a throw pillow I made her last year.  I have a sneaky
suspicion that the cat will take care of this for her.  She said the cat has made the pillow a place to sleep.

Well to end this part here are some handmade boxes for gifts I have made out of paper.  They were just right for the jewelry.  Also pictured is some fat quarters I am sharing with some quilting friends.  I have wrapped them in batting.  It has been fun coming up with new things every year but it also taxes my mind!  Have fun and if there is anything I can help you with please contact me.
Merry Christmas!

My New Love Fiber Art

I have come across a new fiber art I am falling in love with. For me the challenge of creating something out of a media that is so unpredictable and unruly has captured my heart. It is a hands on rip roaring good time. I think about it so much I am having a hard time doing the other things that interest me at this moment. Currently I have worked on two art quilts with art fiber incorporated.

This one certainly not finished yet but I will update as soon as it is.
The next one is also a work in progress.  It has evolved into embellishment of the highest degree.  It tells a story of an evolving butterfly.  To me a butterfly is a "New Beginning"  I have recently had a new beginning and this piece certainly has me entangled in story as I complete it.  I still have not named it.  I am sure it will come to me by the time I have completed it.
This is the over all view of what has been completed.

This portion symbolizes the cocoon. It is wrapped in a beautiful leaf like fabric to hold it. The cocoon is out of one of my long fiber art beads and it is squished (that is a technical term!) to take this shape. It is wrapped in wire and beads.

This is the emerging butterfly. Wings and body are made also out of this fiber. The body is a fiber bead with crystals at the beginning and end and his antenna is silver wire.

The flower is the sustenance of life that makes it possible for life to carry on. The aqua beads are the rain that is the considered a necessary element of life.

Once again the part that is complete.  There will be more to come.  I must put in that caterpillar yet and who knows what other things will show up.

I will put a close on today’s blog and my first, by the way. I am scheduled for surgery on my knee come Sept. 19, 2011. I will be away for awhile. Don't forget to check out my stores at

Thanks for stopping by!
