From Recovery to Free Motion Quilting

It has been a long while since I have posted anything.  I have been recovering from knee surgery with no way to get down stairs to my studio.  The surgery was a little more than what was expected so I have had 8 weeks on crutches and several weeks with physical therapy.  Now I can get down the stairs and can ride my exercise bike to get that knee back in shape.

For those of you who would be interested Amanda, my sister-in-laws daughter is in remission with her Hodgkins!  It is great news!  I am so happy for that family.  It has been a hard fight but when you have 2 young children you have to fight for them.

Also my step children lost their mom to cancer in January.  It was so sad to see.  She was 51 years old and way to young to be lost.  My heart and concern goes out to my husbands kids.  It was hard to watch and they were devastated.

I am working on a free motion quilt (FMQ).  I have been practicing and having a hard time with it being a beginner.  This is really something that is for practice and I did mostly easy stuff.

This backing sure shows the stitches.  I have gotten somewhat better.  I really enjoyed this one.

It is time to put the binding on it.  Of coarse I ran out of thread.  So a trip to the store is in order.

I just bought fabric for the Leah Day Building Blocks Quilt Pattern

It is a stitch along on facebook.

I am waiting for my fabric to come in.  Here is what I chose for the fabrics:
Blocks will be done with these two.

Bindings will be done in the fabric below.

The backing will be done in this fabric.

Hopefully I can find a quilting thread to match the darker pink color.

I am behind but I knew I would be.  The surgery happened about the time they got started.
What else is news?  I am going to Oklahoma to visit my family and friends for about a month the second week in April.  I am so ready to see all of them.  It has been over a year now.  I am even taking my sewing machine home with me!
